Business Continuity process

All Business Continuity needs covered by 1 solution

Onsite Backups

Actiphy’s backup solutions protect your data, systems, applications, and the configuration of your machines. Backups can be saved directly to local or network storage devices such as NAS, SAN, RDX drives or external HDD. With onsite backups, there is no waiting for your backups to be delivered or downloaded, and can be instantly restored, recovered, or started as a virtual machine.

Unlimited replication

Today, ransomware has become the most significant threat over natural disasters for companies’ critical systems and data. Modern day cyberattacks are no longer focused on local machines but can also spread through local networks. To better safeguard against ransomware it is imperative to maintain copies your backups to an offsite location.
ActiveImage Protector with ImageCenter LE can replicate backups to local and network locations such as external disks, NAS. SAN, and RDX rotating storage devices, as well as offsite locations such as an alternate company site, cloud servers using SFTP, FTPS, FTP, WebDav, or Amazon S3 cloud storage.
ImageCenter LE is included by default in most ActiveImage Protector solutions or can be downloaded for free. We recommend that ImageCenter LE to be installed on machines other than the backup source machines to offset resources used by the replication process.

Cloud Backups

More and more companies are storing copies of their backups in the Cloud. This has been facilitated by the increases in internet bandwidth. With ImageCenter LE full and incremental backups can be replicated to Amazon S3 Cloud Storage Services or any private Cloud location.
For Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Actiphy EU provides two different Cloud storage solutions (Located in Germany and Switzerland) where you can replicate your backups. Using our Cloud backup locations allows IT channel professionals to offer additional services to their clients with our Actiphy (EU) Local & Cloud Backup services.

Backup testing

Protecting your data with regular backups is great, but should the need arise to restore, how do you know the backup will restore properly? Backup integrity checks are a very important step in the Business Continuity process that too many companies tend to overlook. Most likely because it can be a complicated and timely process. Actiphy solutions ensure backup integrity with a host of safeguards including:
Backup notifications: Receive email notifications on successfully completed backups or failures.
Verify backup integrity: To verify the integrity of a backup, ActiveImage Protector runs a sector level verification to check the backup contents via a unique hash. This integrity check verifies that backup files are not corrupted.
Check backup bootability: An integral backup doesn’t mean you will be able to boot your system after restoration. It is possible the boot configuration is broken, or a driver may cause glitches. With BootCheck you can test the bootability of your backups.
View backup contents: View the backup contents without the cumbersome process of mounting a backup as a drive letter, when sometimes recovery of a single file or folder is all that is needed.

Instant Availability

Instant Availability is getting your organisation up and running immediately after disaster strikes.
Instant Availability Options:
Interim Failover: Manually boot backups in a virtual environment in as little as two minutes providing a temporary failover solution. Interim failover gets your organisation up and running and data accessible immediately in the event of a disaster in the interim while infrastructure is rebuilt. This Instant Availability option is achieved with ImageBoot (included for free with most ActiveImage Protector solutions)
Persistent Failover: In the event of a disaster, get your systems started up and running in as little as two minutes in virtual environments such as Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware ESXi. Persistent Failover is a stable, permanent switchover option that can also be used for virtualization conversion. A virtual replica standby machine is created from an existing machine or a backup and additional point in time boot recovery points can be created to keep the standby machine current. This Instant Availability option is found in vStandby feature included in ActiveImage Protector 2018 for Windows and in vStandby AIP (add-on to ActiveImage Protector for Windows and Linux).

Restore process

Choose your restore option depending on the disastrous occurrence or available resources:
Restore entire systems or volumes: Use the bare-metal restore to retrieve system configuration and data as before the disaster. Restore to same or dissimilar hardware or to any hypervisor. This is included with every ActiveImage Protector solution.
Recover files and folders: Although backing up entire volumes and systems using blocks, ActiveImage Protector can recover individual files and folders with ImageExplorer, or by mounting the backup image.

Failback

If you have used our Failover Instant Availability option and you require returning to the pre-disaster infrastructure after repair then this is the failback process.
Use the ActiveImage Protector Recovery Environment. Select the newest differential backup that was automatically created from the temporary ImageBoot failover solution to restore to the repaired or new hardware.
